Process Engineer - Intern

Responsibilities

Process engineering intern needed to support plastic injection molding machines on our production floor!

This intern position will be expected to work 12 weeks fulltime over the summer; availability to work part-time starting immediately and/or through the next school year

  • Be a technical resource for mold techs, finishing techs and production support specialists.
  • Responsible for completing work orders and attachments, validation documentation, tooling and maintenance work orders and sample request documentation as required.
  • Manage multiple projects.
  • Develop and meet project schedules.
  • Assigned as part of an AQP team and designated to specific customer programs.  
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Understand and implement customer requirements.
  • Continuously improve existing processes using design of experiments and other methods to increase efficiencies.
  • Implement systems and procedures that assure compliance with Quality Standards.
  • May have vision requirements.
  • Safety/Environmental:
      -  Proactively identifies safety concerns.
      -  Comply with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; ideally Plastics Engineering or other engineering discipline that includes coursework/lab work in injection molding processing.

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical skills in injection molding, tooling, materials, and automation to aid other PE’s in daily tasks.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and implement actions to resolve them.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation, equipment and processes.
  • Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of SPC, DOE, geometric tolerencing and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to use CAD to determine if tooling, equipment and part designs meet requirements.

This position is intended as a temporary Internship. This is a paid position with no benefits.
